BRIDGETOWN COMEDY FESTIVAL IN PORTLAND, OREGON:
BACK TO LA!
MORE SHOWS TO COME...
Massachusetts native Dave Child started his career as a senior officer of Emerson College's acclaimed sketch troupe: Chocolate Cake City. While earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Dave co-wrote the screenplay: Will Triumph Fights Alone, which won the Film Artist Network’s Boston Screenplay Competition. The script was represented at The Cannes Film Festival and was later adapted into a comic book, illustrated by Death of Superman artist: Jon Bogdanove. Since then, Will Triumph has been optioned to ABC Family Channel as a one-hour drama.
After graduating in 2007, Dave was quickly flown to Los Angeles to make comedy videos and web series for Warner Brothers Studios. He currently performs stand up all the country for the nation’s top clubs (The Comedy Store, The Comedy Studio, The Improv, etc.) and most popular alternative comedy shows: HOLY FUCK! (“One of the best alternative comedy shows in Los Angeles.”- LA Weekly), One-Two-Punch (a featured show in the LA Times), and What's Up Tiger Lily? (The Onion's "Comedy Pick"). Recently, Dave was selected to perform at the 2011 Boston Comedy Festival.
Yesterday I received the following texts from my brother, Matt, while he was attending the graduation party of my cousin, Caitlin…
They served cake with Cait’s picture on it. I got a piece with part of the photo.
Mom: “Matt always wanted to get a taste of his cousin.”
Thanks Mom. You ruined cake.
PS: Mother’s day tomorrow.
Happy Mother’s day.
A mighty fine funny favorite show tonight.
as free as a hug and a whole lot more comforting.
the world needs several hugs now
Goodbye, Maurice, id of children, uncompromisingly beautiful, strange, mean, sweet, deep, dark, and true.
Via “N222011,” this is from “Tell Them Anything You Want,” a beautiful film by Lance Bangs and Spike Jonze.
(Double-heart-rendingly, it was and is distributed by Adam Yauch’s company Oscilloscope.)
That is all.
Hey everyone, this book is now in bookstores across the West Coast. If the cashier tells you that you can’t buy it because they’ve never seen it before and it’s not a real book, I give you permission to open-handed hit him/her in the bathing suit area.
The new Statler and Waldorf movie’s going to be great!
Dearest internet. I am currently in Portland OR, about to experience the magic of The Bridgetown Comedy Festival. I’ll be doing a show every night until Sunday. Click the link to see them all. Love,
Taxi Dave
Party cab is in the house tonight.
I love this man.
Here is the original version of Bionic Bees. It was written and recorded in an hour during a radio show that my dear friends Dave Child, Pat De Nicola, and Jonathan Ade were hosting at Emerson college. The challenge was to write and record the song to be aired at the end of the show, which it was. You can hear bits of the show going on in the background during the song. Enjoy!
If you listen closely you can hear me yelling.
My very talented best bud has started posting his songs on this new tumblr. I’ve been wanting him to do something like this forever. He’s awesome. You should follow him and listen to everything he does.
Dear Internet,
I’m performing an experiment with Rajiv Satyal ( @funnyindian ) and Brooke Lenzi (my long time writing partner) and a bunch of other funny fellows.
On April 25th 2012 we’ll perform the funniest sketches sent to @Sketch_A_Tweet on tweeter (or with the hashtag: #sketchatweet). Send us your funniest sketch premise, 140 character-long sketch, or inspiration (picture, word, link to news article, whatever) and we’ll act and skit the hell out of it.
Also help us out by spreading the word of the show and the scheme. ReTweet us, repost us, help us gain a following so we can collaborate with the interenet and hear some sketch ideas.
Come on guys, this is gonna be fun.
If you’re in the San Jose area, you should probably be HERE tonight.
Leaping the year with me.
